Not only this, cement is essentially used in sculpture makings, tables, and bookcases. It’s a versatile and reliable construction material, which has covered a large range of applications. We have two different kinds of cement named Hydraulic and Non-hydraulic, further divided into many types used in constructions, discussed below; let’s take a sneak peek.
Ordinary Portland cement
A type of cement that is used worldwide for several purposes:
- When it’s mixed with aggregates and water, it makes concrete that is widely used in building buildings.
- It helps in joining masonry and as a plaster to give a perfect finish to walls.
- It gives durable manufacturing of walls, solid concrete blocks, grout, and so on.

Portland Pozzolana Cement
It is used after grinding the pozzolanic clinker with Portland cement to use in the construction of:
- Marine structure
- Sewage system
- Bridges
- Piers
- Dams
Rapid Hardening Cement
As the name suggests, it’s used for rapid hardening, as it gains strength quicker and is taken by mixing calcium chloride to rapid hardening cement. It’s widely applied in cold weather concreting to set the cement faster than usual. It takes hardly one to two days to get fixed, but a very rapid hardening cemented works 25% faster than that.
Sulfate Resisting Cement
It’s one of the cement types that is specifically manufactured to resist sulfate attack, as it has the lowest percentage of tricalcium aluminate that reacts with sulfate. It’s used in areas where the contact with soil or groundwater is having more than 0.2 to 0.3% sulfate salts, respectively.
White Cement
The type of cement used in the making of ceilings and to fix the cracks on the walls is known as white cement. It’s made with raw materials free from iron and oxide, namely lime and clay, in higher portions. Whenever you require to fill a void or fix any crack, you might go for white cement to quickly fix things. Also, it’s widely used in sculpture and monument making.
