Everyone has seen a brick in their lifetime as bricks are an essential part of any kind of construction around the world. Apart from the knowledge about how a brick looks like, there’s not much that people know about the types of bricks used in different types of constructions.

Here is the classification of bricks depending on the raw material used in the production process.

Firebrick

Firebricks are manufactured from a specifically designed earth. These types of bricks can resist high temperatures without affecting the strength, shape, and size. They are usually used to lining different kinds of furnaces and chimneys where the operating temperatures are relatively high.

Concrete Bricks

These types of bricks are made up of concrete. Due to the low quality and resistance, they are not widely used even though they are generally used for different fencing kinds. In case the pigment is added to the concrete brick during the manufacturing process, it’s possible to achieve different colors and shades.

Sand Lime Bricks

These bricks are obtained by mixing and molding lime, sand, and fly ash under pressure. During the mixing process, a chemical reaction occurs to create a bond; then, it is poured into the molds. They offer a cleaner and smooth finish as compared to the clay bricks.

Burnt Clay Bricks

The brunt clay bricks are produced by pressing the clay into the molds. After the clay is poured into the mold, it is dried and then processed for further use. They are the most common type of bricks that are used in different construction projects. These kinds of bricks require a layer of plastering when used in any construction-related activities.
